Why is automated part cleaning important?
Cleaning is the most critical step when post-processing P3/DLP parts. It is usually very manual, with minimum process controls. Traditional cleaning processes require a user to either (1) manually clean each part or (2) use an ultrasonic cleaning tank. Both options are time-intensive, have limited process controls, and risk overexposing a part to the cleaning solvent. This overexposure is the leading cause of compromised mechanical properties and dimensional accuracy.
How do I know what program to run?
Onulis P3/DLP Workflow Guide will quickly tell you what program to run. Simply select your material and follow the noted cleaning and curing instructions. The Guide is available via a QR code on the front of the CleanPoint, or on the Onulis website: https://onulis.com/p3-dlp-workflow-guide.
Can I do custom cleaning programs?
Yes, you can easily add custom cleaning programs. For details and instructions, see User Guide.
Do I need to monitor CleanPoint during the washing process?
No, CleanPoint is a fully automatic system. In the standard cleaning mode, parts are removed from the solvent once the washing process is complete. This automation eliminates the risk of solvent overexposure and ensures thorough part cleaning.
What solvents are compatible with CleanPoint?
The CleanPoint is an open-source solution and is therefore compatible with all solvents. The most common solvent our customers use is IPA. IPA is affordable (a CleanPoint tank fill is under $25), it is reclaimable with the use of a distilling unit, and it is the standard solvent recommended by material manufacturers.
How do I know when to replace the solvent?
Replace solvent once it is saturated to the point that it takes multiple wash cycles to clean the part fully.
What is the largest part CleanPoint can wash?
In standard cleaning mode, the system can clean parts up to 9.5 inches tall. In manual mode, the system can clean parts up to 14 inches tall. It is important to note that part geometry plays an important role in determining cleaning modes and maximum size. For additional questions, please reach out to our team at info@onulis.com.
Can CleanPoint be used in an office environment?
When using solvents, it is important to maintain a well-ventilated work area. Use of a fume hood is highly recommended. Always follow the ventilation and safety requirements put forth by the solvent manufacturer.
What validations does CleanPoint have?
The Onulis workflow bundle, which includes CleanPoint, WRAP Pro and CrossLink, has been validated by major material manufacturers, such as Henkel and ForwardAM (BASF) in conjunction with Stratasys Origin printers. Additionally, the Onulis workflow bundle has been validated by Stratasys as a Validated-By-Vendor Solution.
